Lamar Hosts College Fair

Juniors and seniors were all ears at the Lamar College Fair this week.

Recruiters came from colleges located all over the southeast to attract prospective students.

Although college tuition is on the rise, colleges are offering more scholarship opportunities and use occasions like this to spread the word.

"It seems like they are getting a little bit more aggressive in giving opportunities or showing the opportunities to our students," said guidance counselor Ronnie Key. "And it seems like there seems to be more of 'yes you can afford college' "

Key also said colleges from all over the U.S. are eager to attend events such as this to make students more aware of available scholarships and what steps are necessary to apply for them.

Laura, sounds like you have a bit of an inferiority complex. Lamar is a good school. Most of the kids that go there are great kids. There is always some hillbilly trying to take the wind out of everyone's sails on here. If Princton had come she would ask "Where's Harvard?"

It seems to me that if Lamar is THE elite school it is supposed to be that colleges from areas other than the southeastern United States would be coming to the college fair as well. Maybe Lamar isn't the pinnacle they think they are?
