Head of the Class Awards Presented

The East Mississippi Business Development Corporation recognized students who are excelling in their field of study.

It presented "Head of the Class" awards to Ross Collins students who are learning career and technical skills.

The honorees are studying welding and electrical installation.

"I feel proud of myself, being a first semester student picked as being highly successful down here," said Arsenio Herlong, who is learning welding. "I'm going to keep pushing, try to be the best."

"It feels real good, an honor. It means a lot because last year when I came into the program I didn't really know anything about it," said Reginald Sims, a student learning electrical work. "Here I am now getting an award for most improved in my second year. I feel real good about it."

The EMBDC says businesses benefit from a workforce with these types of skills.
