Suspect Charged in January Robberies

Meridian police detectives Monday arrested 18-year-old Cedric Antonio Bennomon on one count of armed robbery and two counts of strong armed robbery.

Police say the charges stem from three separate incidents in January. One was in the 3300 block of 7th Street Jan. 26; another in the 3300 block of 7th Street Jan. 27; and the last Jan. 28 in the 4300 block of 30th Street.

The MPD says people were robbed at or near their residences. In one of the incidents, officials say a female suffered non-life threatening injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital.

Bennomon's total bond on the charges was set at $160,000.

Police say the strong armed robbery charges were upheld during a preliminary hearing Tuesday and the judge ordered Bennomon held without bond. The armed robbery charge will be presented to the Lauderdale County grand jury, likely in August.

Glad to hear that this young man has been put behind bars. It is hard to understand how someone at this young age is capable of such violence. Praise the Lord that these victoms are still alive!

What a piece of work this young man has turned out to be. To enter the home of an 84 year old defenseless woman who is one of the kindest and caring persons on earth. Beat her in the face...crush an eye socket...break her jaw...multi fractures in her face leave her bleeding on the floor...steal her cards...cell phone is deserving of more punishment than the State of Mississippi judicial system and Department of Corrections can and or will administer. Recommend this young man meet Jesus Christ real soon as Lord and Saviour. The eternal lake of fire will have a special place for in-humans like this young man. Praying for healing for this dear precious 84 year old mother...grand mother...great grand mother. Praying for this piece of work who deserves more than the law will allow. More to come to him after the law is done with him. Larry Williamson
