The leader of the University of Mississippi spoke Wednesday to Meridian's Rotary Club.
Ole Miss chancellor, Dr. Dan Jones, said his main focus and priority is to rally more support behind higher education.
Jones says students need to start learning more about higher education at a younger age. He hopes educators stress the real significance of education in everyone' lives.
Ii hope that people will, since there are challenges that are tough challenges, that are real, but there's a real need to support public education at every level in this state," said Jones. "And that's K-12, community colleges, and higher education."
Jones says the recession has created a challenge for all educational institutions, at all levels of education. He says the focus of quality teaching cannot be lost.
