A Northeast Lauderdale High School student has been charged with taking a BB gun on a school bus and pulling it out on the way home from school.
This is a misdemeanor charge that is being handled by the juvenile court.
Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says the student's name isn't being released because of his age.
Initially, it was alleged that the student shot the gun at another student. Calhoun says his department is still investigating this.
The initial allegation was that this gun had been fired and a student was struck," said Calhoun. "The investigation is still coming. We do have information and have talked to that victim and will give all the evidence to the juvenile court when it is time for him to appear before them."
Calhoun says this is a good time for parents to have a conversation with children about what can and can't be taken to school.
