Rose Remembered with 'Final Call'

Funeral services were held Monday for Randy Rose, the longtime communications center manager for Lauderdale County's E911 system.

His voice was a familiar one to local emergency personnel and also locals who had scanners in their homes.

Members of the emergency services community say he will be missed.

"He was invaluable as an employee. He was the pool of information," said E911 director Jared Stanley. "You could go to him and he would be able to either give you the answer to your question or locate that answer for you, no matter what it was. He had been in the service for so long that there was no possible way to look to anyone else except for him for some information."

Following his funeral at Central United Methodist Church, Lauderdale County E911 held a final call for Rose, saying that he was 10-7, or out of service, for the final time.

I myself didnt know Randy as well as others but my wife Michelle did. She worked with Randy til the day he left E-911 and is still there. She talked about Randy often and was Always concerned with how he was doing. To Melinda Randy will be dearly missed I am sorry for what you have lost. It is never easy but you know that people in this city and county loved Randy and they will always be there for you as will myself and Michelle. We will be here and remember one more thing Randy maybe gone but he will always be here no matter what. Its the memories and the love in your heart that will keep him alive forever. Once we are sorry fo what you lost.
