A Lauderdale County jury has found Terry Hye Jr. guilty of capital murder in the death of a man who was shot after he stopped for directions to a football game.
Michael David Porter of Hattiesburg was shot to death outside a Moss Point gas station in October 2008.
Hye was one of four teens arrested in the case. Hye was 16 at the time of the incident and is the second teen convicted in the slaying.
Prosecutors did not seek the death penalty in the case.
Hye's defense lawyers maintained their client was in the wrong place at the wrong time and prosecutors didn't prove Hye participated in the slaying.
The jury was brought in from Lauderdale County to the coast because of pre-trial publicity.

I just find it really hard to believe that he did not know what was going on. Even if it was a split decision he did not have to be around...he could have easily walked off...I think we are doing the right thing in sending him to jail.

I would agree that be a member of a group of thugs that murders an innocent person is being in the wrong place at the wrong time. Thanks to a Lauderdale county Jury, he will now be heading to the right place. He gets to live in prison where we keep the thugs.
