Mississippi state Sen. Jack Gordon of Okolona remained hospitalized Monday and his condition was upgraded from critical to good.
Sen. Terry Burton told Capitol colleagues that Gordon is awake and has been walking and talking. Burton says Gordon is "cantankerous" and wants to get out of the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Officials haven't said why the 66-year-old Democrat was rushed early Sunday to UMC. Burton says physicians are running tests.
Gordon is a longtime lawmaker who chaired the powerful Senate Appropriations Committee for years. He's now chair of the Public Property Committee.
