Suspect Charged in Church Embezzlement

Authorities have charged a Jasper County woman with embezzling more than $100,000 from a church.

Phyllis Daughdrill was arrested late last week for allegedly stealing the money from the Corinth Baptist Church in Heidelberg. She had been secretary there for nearly a decade.

Jasper County Sheriff Kenneth Cross says the exact amount allegedly taken from the church hasn't been determined.

Daughdrill has been released on $10,000 bond.

I agree with all, but what I can't understand is how can they not miss 100,000 I realize I got 100 missing. They should have stiffer fines I think.

I agree with Ben---what is going on with all this embezzlement? First, the woman at Citizens National Bank, whom I knew a long time ago, the woman at the urologist's office, and now this one. The woman that embezzled from the bank only got 60 days in jail, 5 years probation, and restitution of the $60,000 she embezzled. What is WRONG with the court system and the judges? I would be UNDER the jail if found in the same circumstances.

What is the deal with all the embezzelment going on? These people need to be sent away. Lets show them Meridian can be TOUGH ON CRIME. We all think it is terrible some of these criminals aren't punished. I have a business and couldn't survive if this happened to me.. Beverly Morgan stole over $100,000, The coke people and now this lady. They are all criminals and need to do some serious time. I know alot of folks that need money and don't steal it.

I hope she knows she was not just stealing from the church but she has stole from God and one day she will have to stand in front of him and account for her actions . this just goes to show that it should always be more than one person in charge of the books it's too easy when you have no one looking over your shoulder ........
