Naval Air Station Meridian celebrated a change of leadership at one of its training squadrons Friday.
A change of command ceremony was held for Training Squadron 9.
CMDR William Sheehan took over the reigns of the squadron from CMDR Anthony Wright, who has been CO for a little more than two years.
"There's a lot of flying to be done. There's a lot of detachments coming up in the future. And the instructors are working hard," said CMDR Sheehan. "Many of them coming off of combat duty and students are getting ready to head off to the fleet, the replacement squadrons, and they'll probably, potentially be in combat here within the next year."
"My wife and I have loved it (here)," said CMDR Wright. "We've had a great time. We had two kids while we were here. And everybody in the community and everybody's been fantastic."
Commander Sheehan has been executive officer for VT-9 the last two years. It's one of the two training squadrons on the base.
