Meridian residents will soon have several new ways to pay police department fines.
A representative from a business called nCourt, of Woodstock, Ga., explained the new process at the Meridian City Council meeting.
The company is working with city officials to give residents the option of paying fines any hour of the day, through a Web site or a telephone line.
The service costs the city nothing.
"This would be for police fines and tickets exclusively at this time," said Steve Holden, sales director. "Hopefully, later we will be able to pay other fees and stuff like that, but for now it is just for police fines."
When up and running the site, will be meridiantix.com. It's expected to be operational by the end of this week.
