Physician Charged with Possession of Pot

A routine search of packages and cargo led to a felony marijuana possession charge against a doctor.

Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents say a drug dog alerted them to a package believed to contain less than one ounce of marijuana.

49-year-old Dr. Bruce Levy of Nashville, Tennessee, was charged after a warrant allowed them to search his hotel room where officials say several more small containers of marijuana were found.

Levy is currently CEO of Global Forensics and one of six doctors under contract for the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s office.

Department of Public Safety Commissioner Stephen Simpson said the contract with Global Forensics has been terminated.

This sounds awfully fishy. Dr. Levy has a great reputation, and has been trying to help reform a corrupt system in Mississippi for a long time. It's quite the coincidence that this happened the day before the reforms were to be voted on. I smell a setup.

Well that's just stupid. Were they doing a bad job? Has it been shown or suspected that the Dr. was using drugs on the job and compromising results?
