New, easier to understand weight limit signs will be posted on bridges across the state, according to the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

MDOT officials say one of three signs will be posted at a bridge depending on the weight restrictions that are required.

One sign shows silhouettes of trucks and the weight limits by the size of the trucks.

Another sign shows the weight limit by either tandem or single axle weight. A third would show the weight limit by the gross weight of a vehicle.

MDOT officials unveiled the new signs Thursday in Jackson.
