Medicare Terminates Agreement with Troubled Hospices

Hospice Direct and Serenity Hospice, owned by the same people, have not paid numerous employees for several months. Now they are in trouble with Medicare.

A notice was issued to both businesses, which are owned by Linda Knight of union.

According to officials with the centers for Medicare and Medicaid services, Medicare investigators have been surveying both hospices.

After evaluating them both, the department has decided to terminate its provider agreement with Hospice Direct and Serenity Hospice as of Mar. 23.

After that date the Medicare program will not make payment for services that the hospices provide to patients.

In response to the termination notice, both Hospice Direct and Serenity Hospice have filed a plan of corrections notice with the Medicare program.

Medicare officials are now evaluating that. By Monday officials with the regional Medicare office in Atlanta say they should be able to determine whether or not the correction plans for both hospices are sufficient enough to cancel the termination notice.

According to the attorney for both organizations, a number of employees had not been paid since the end of November 2009. He says the holdup is due to delays from reimbursements from Medicare.

Late Friday afternoon, officials with the hospice said they were looking into the pay issue.

I don't see any surprise here. That's how the business goes nowadays. If you are not paying to your employees - you have some troubles with medicare. Talking specifically about the health care situation in the United States - it is really poor. Of course now everything can be changed because of Obama's health care reform. Why I am saying that the situation is poor? Of course we have the best medical technical equipment world wide but poor people can't use it for sure. For example my local doctor have told me to use Eurax every single day few times a day. How can I do that? These medications are too expensive for me. That's where the problem is. Not everybody can have the best health care services available. I just hope that this situation will be changed after finally approving health care reform. Thanks for the interesting and informative article by the way.

Well everyone I do not know if anyone has kept with the bankruptcy, but she didn't file. Medicare has got her for fraud on billing (about 47,000 roughly). I've been waiting patiently now it's my turn to see her in court.

Hey, Knight fans! Mandy Sue's is back in business! Believe it or not, Mandy Sue herself is still too good to work at her own store. She is PAYING someone to run her store, and she has yet to have even one customer since her not-so-grand reopening. HA! The doors are still open at Hospice Direct, and they are still hanging onto the phones. Phone rings. Amanda answers, "Hospice Direct" Caller says, "Y'all got closed down, honey. Time to let go." Amanda screams, "NOOOO!! They can't do this to me! I drive a HUMMER!" It is so comical that they are still riding around like big shots. Any normal person would be humiliated. Not the Knights. Hey there, Knight family, EVERYONE hates you. Open your eyes. Read the comments. Just pack your bags and head to New Orleans. No money? Can't afford it? The Saints deserve more respectable fans than you people anyway! Amanda, you have made the right choice not to reproduce! The world thanks you!

I can not believe that once again Linda Knight and her family have gotten out of this one! How can anybody say this is fair? She is committing fraud and more importantly she is abusing patients that have the right to better treatment than they are getting! The system has once again failed all of the former employees and the patients that are still on these services! Linda will continue to stay open and she will continue to cheat, steal and lie and the way it looks the federal government will continue to let her get away with it! I wish that someone would tell me why we do not deserve to gt paid? Why did I work every day and I'm not entitled to MY paycheck? Everyone is complaining about the new health care plan well in my opinion Obama's health care plan is a whole lot better than Linda Kinght's health care plan! She should be stripped of everything and made to get a real job like real honest folks!!!

So.. even though Linda was shut down and her license was snatched away, she still has this nurse by the name of Kristen seeing patients. She gave her a Mercedes to drive!!! Despite how illegal this is and how informed the public is,, sadly this nurse is gonna have to explain this one to the board of nursing. Wonder if they will give her a Mercedes? And also sadly is that these patients are the elderly who don't watch the news and the only company they get is from the hospice liars.I believe she is holding these patient so she can reopen another hospice under someone elses name and use those patients there to rebuild. It's a concern huh? No need for the public to worry cause the proper people have been notified and this does include the State Board of Nursing... honey, if I were you, I'd give boss hoss her keys back and not participate in illegal activity. Bad boys bad boys--what ya gone do when they come for you?

Well, here we are 3 days after CMS terminated their agreement w/ HD and Serenity and they act like nothing has happened! Linda Knight is the "Queen of Denial"! She's still open! And who is to blame for all her catastrophe? Not her! As usual, everyone else has done her wrong. It's all the employees' fault who left her. It's Medicare's fault! She has blamed everyone from the social workers to the office people to the government! But all her employees would have stuck with her if she had just paid them. That is all it would have taken. A paycheck! Mark, would you have stayed at the Railroad if they had decided to stop paying you? Would you forego your pension just to help them out? Did you think the employees just loved to be in your presence so much that they would stay for free?! Please, those people were servants! When is the last time Linda washed a dish or made a bed! That old "I'm doing the best I can" line just doesn't cut it anymore! GIVE US OUR MONEY!
