The Lauderdale County Grand Jury is meeting this week in Meridian.
The panel of 18 citizens will be hearing evidence in 310 criminal cases.
District Attorney Bilbo Mitchell says three murder cases are to be presented, along with the usual array of property crimes.
He said the fifty bad check cases are lower than usual. The 110 drug cases are higher than usual.
"And one reason is a whole bunch of them are forged prescription type cases from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics," Mitchell said. "They've been working really hard to try to eliminate some of the people getting prescription drugs illegally."
Mitchell said the grand jury is scheduled to serve the entire week, including inspecting county buildings Friday.
