18-Wheeler Wrecks

An 18-wheeler jackknifed on the interstate in Meridian Thursday morning.

The Golden Flake truck hit a barrier that separates the interstate from North Frontage Road, but no other vehicles were involved.

Officials say no one was hurt. The wreck slowed traffic in the west-bound lanes.

Meridian police and fire departments, and Homeland Security, responded to the scene.

sound more like car was trying to set the truck up for a law suite this is done a lot all over and now is going to get worse... as far a trucks speeding most are set 65 5 max speed is 70 .. they are set like that to save money on fuel.. I have seen enough wrecks over the years here can tell you most forget the ramp is to help merge but if you cant you stay on it till you have a spot to pull out safely ... what i see is ramp foot to the floor= get out of my way i i want on the interstate..

I drive on that interstate every morning and the 18 wheelers never merge to the left for people to get on even when no one is in the left lane. Aren't they suppose to move over?

This truck was not at fault for this accident. I was there when it happened. Some nut merged onto the interstate in front of this truck and then slammed on their brakes so it was either wreck his truck or hit the car. And the nut did not even bother to stop. By the way, I called 911 and it seemed like it was a long time before the police arrived. When I called I reported the location, the fact that is was a truck and that there was a diesel spill but I think it took about 10 minutes before anyone arrived. Some folks just don't need to be on the road!

Well, drive the section of interstate from the airport exit to the last exit by sam's and do 60 MPH as the Speed Limit signs say and see how long you last. Someone or something needs to be done about the 18-wheelers running 70 to 75 MPH. YES, we all know they do and so far nothing is being done about it. When I talked to the Mayor about the problem, she said that it is "being looked at", but they were trying to see who has jurisdiction over that stretch of interstate. I have see the city giving tickets out on that stretch and MHP.
