The Aldersgate Retirement Community has organized a support group for the military.
Residents are meeting once a month to come up with ideas that will benefit the nation's service men and women.
Aldersgate residents brainstormed ideas Thursday. They are receiving help from volunteers.
"So we do ask that if there's anyone out there that would like to volunteer, we're going to meet monthly here at Aldersgate and come up with different ideas of things that we can send out to our military, as well as our veterans," said activities director Angie Gray. "Just to give them that little extra something from home that they may not be able to pick up from Wal-Mart when they're over in Iraq. So that's one of the things that we're trying to do at Aldersgate. because they've given so much to us we want to give back to our country."
Gray says many of the residents are veterans themselves, and have children and grandchildren currently serving at home and overseas.
