The New Vision House of God Faith Center held a concert Sunday evening to benefit Relay for Life.

The guest singer for the concert was Kierra Sheard, an American Gospel Recording Artist. In addition to raising money for cancer research, New Vision also hopes to extend its ministry to other members of the community.

"Even though this is a benefit concert to raise money for Relay for Life, this is also an event to come out and enjoy good singing and to be entertained. Our host for tonight is from the play, 'Delayed but not Denied, Jimmy and Pam,' so there's a lot of laughter and a lot of good singing tonight. It just gives people to come out to and have a great time and give back to the community at the same time," says Greg Williams, the Minister of Music.

All proceeds from the concert will go directly to Relay for Life. The church raised over two thousand dollars.

I don't know what grammar usage problems the staff at WTOK has, but obviously, they DO have them. In the initial paragraph regarding the Relay For Life benefit concert and the last sentence in particular---it reads "Two thousand dollars were raised for the cause." It should have read "Two thousand dollars WAS raised for the cause." Please, WTOK staff, either pay more attention to what you are writing, OR go back to school to be educated on how to write. I honestly don't know who is worse---WTOK or the Meridian Star.
