Mississippi lawmakers are gone from the Capitol until April 20. The House and Senate finished work Saturday on a big chunk of their work for the 2010 session.

The two chambers passed the final versions of bills that would make general changes to state laws.

When lawmakers return, they plan to spend a few days passing a budget for the fiscal year that begins July 1.

Negotiators have agreed to spend about $5.5 billion, but are hoping to get an additional $187 million in federal money that could also be included in the budget.
