Sheriff James Moore said the two people taken into custody in connection with a Mar. 25 shooting on Howard Johnson Road in Porterville were released without being charged Saturday.
But an official arrest was made Sunday related to the shooting death of 37-year-old Joseph McNeil.
"He is being held in connection to this. We're not going to give his name, because at this point, he is a minor," Moore said.
Moore said McNeil owned the house where the shooting happened. Michael Gowdy was critically injured in the same incident and remains hospitalized.
Moore says once investigators contacted the suspect, he turned himself in to authorities. More arrests are expected.
"It's three people that are connected with this incident here," said Moore. "One person is in custody right now and we're looking for two others."
As of Monday afternoon, the only thing the sheriff could tell us about the two suspects is that both are still thought to be in the area.
