This year's Leadership Lauderdale class is working to support the Care Lodge through a project called 'Pillow Pile'.

The goal is to get as many new pillows and/or funds to buy pillows for the people who use the Care Lodge. John Burton is one of the members of this year's Leadership Lauderdale Class. He says the group couldn't think of a more deserving agency.

"We are soliciting donations of pillows and/or funds to buy pillows for the Care Lodge. Care Lodge is the battered women's shelter here in east Mississippi, just yesterday it was announced it had won the governor's award for best shelter in the state. When the women and children arrive at the Care Lodge, they often arrive with nothing at all and they are allowed to take their pillows with them when they leave so care lodge is always in need of pillows, and linens, and things like that, so we are hoping to help the care lodge with that," says Burton.

Pillows and funds were collected today at the Wal Mart on Highway 19 from eight in the morning until 4 pm.
