Officials with the Meridian Police Department say two people were shot Sunday afternoon at roughly 2:30 p.m. on 20th Street and 33rd Avenue.

The victims were taken to local hospitals in local Metro Ambulance. The victims' conditions are unknown.

Officials say the two people were shot while they were in their truck, an old Ford F-150. Meridian Police found holes in the truck from the shots fired. They say the holes are consistent with a high powered weapon.

What do ya'll really expect the chief and mayor to do?...Do you think they can control these convicts that keep crawling the streets looking for trouble? NO! stop blaming the problems on them. MAYBE IT IS THE PARENTS FAULT FOR NOT SHOWING THEM ENOUGH LOVE AND ATTENTION...OR MAYBE IT IS A DRUG PROBLEM. And it has absolutely nothing to do with being white or black. I am white and I have called the cops on a Black male neighbor threatening to beat me up because i asked him nicely to stop yelling the F word. it tooke them a hour to arrive. so shut your racist butt up!:)

Question...what is a black mayor or police chief going to do different than what a white one does? Answer that question. And there aint nobody harrassing no hard working black person that is minding there own business stop playing the victim card just because of your color

I agree with me. We was suppose to have upgraded with a new chief and mayor but all else if it anit about a white person getting killed neither one cares. If you call the police on someone suspicious in your neighborhood it takes appromiately 2 hrs. for them to respond to a black neighbor. But Let them catch a black person that works hard and mind their own business they harrass them. We need to get a better police chief and mayor that cares about everyone not just their own kind.

Stop blaming the new police chief.Do you really think gangs and all of the crimes just developed in the short time we have had our new chief or mayor. These promblem people where here with our old mayor and old /past chief. It is the parents who need to be responable for their kids.If you have noticed they/parents stand up and take credit if their kids get a ball scolarship or won a lottery.Stand up and be proud because you have raised a well behave child who care about others .Join a church and fellowship with the right people .When all else fells read the instructions ,you'll find it in the Bible. You might can consider it the book of ethics .

This is for the person that posted the comment regarding the black community. We want to hold the police responsible for what should begin at home. Let's stop making everything a race issue, we have to many parents still acting like kids instead of being parents. I think you can be friends with your children, that's one way to keep the lines of commnication open. But, my goodness we have to remember we are the parents and know when to draw the line and be just that the PARENT. There are whites and blacks getting into all kinds of trouble, it took three weeks for them to show that the other person in the Newton shooting was a white male. The problem with Meridian is tooooo much division (United we stand divided we fall), Meridian is FALLING!!!! When was the last time you tried to reach out to one of these at risk kids? Last, but not least it is the NAACP not NAAPC!!!

These thugs in "m-town", as they like to call it, are just behaving at a level commensurate with their IQs. If they are left alone nature will take its course.

You can't blame the police department or the chief for the actions of a thug, anymore than you can blame the fire department for a forest fire. It's not like they call th cheif for his OK. If there is constantly a problem in an area, it is the character, or lack there of, of the people in that area that is to blame. People aren't being trucked in from out of town or out of state to cause these problems. It's the people that live there. Think about it.

Every once in a while I have to stop and check my grammer, and typing ability, BUT I do believe that anonymous needs to do more than that. Either go back to school and learn to speak a clear sentance in english, or keep your mouth shut.
