The United Way of East Mississippi got a promised donation Monday to help carry it over its annual fundraising goal.
Anderson Hospital presented a check for $65,000 to the organization. The money was raised by employees making voluntary contributions through payroll deductions.
The donation makes Anderson one of the biggest donors to The United Way, which raised just over $800,000 this year.
"This is one of the reasons we were able to make our goal, and we are very thankful for that," said United Way executive director Thad Quarles.
The donations to The United Way go to help fund 16 different organizations in this community.
