Gov. Barbour Filing Taxes Apr. 15

Waiting to pay your income taxes at the last minute? If so, you've got company in the Mississippi Governor's Mansion.

Responding to a question Wednesday at a news conference in Jackson, Gov. Haley Barbour said he and his wife, Marsha, will file their state and federal taxes Thursday, the deadline day.

His explanation: "When you've got to pay, you file late."

Barbour says he knows how much money he owes, but he doesn't want to share that information with the public.

I agree with most, if not all, of the people who posted on this ill thought of subject for comment. Who REALLY cares when Haley Barbour filed his taxes? This is so totally not newsworthy, especially when there are so many other important stories to cover. It would appear that WTOK is just trying, and not too well, to fill space. This is the most boring, non-intelligent news staff, with very few exceptions, that this station has had. WHY pick up something from the Associated Press to publish that has no effect on people's lives here in Mississippi? Shame on you, WTOK!

AND how does Geithner manage to stay out of jail and keep his job? If he was an ordinary person he would be a convicted felon and without a job regardless if he paid after the fact.....What an unfair system.....

    I agree with Hal.

Give Me A Break, I notice whenever you comment, it's just griping about something or other. No, this isn't lead news. But I'm glad the governor at least does pay his taxes. Not like our tax cheating U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, Tim Geitner, who only pays when he's caught.

We have service men and women protecting our country everyday and there is a story to tell about those heros and there families. Give me a break if all we have to report about is the governor filing his taxes on the 15th. Somebody's job needs to be evaluated closely....Nuff said

Why is this even on the news? As long as he pays what he owes then its OK. If not, then the issue would be newsworthy because the people of Mississippi will have a problem if Gov. Barbour decided not to pay up. Hopefully he doesn't make off like a bandit and cheat the government and claim every tax credit in the books.
