Victim's Family Makes Plea for More Information

A Meridian family is offering a cash reward for additional information relating to the 2009 shooting death of Jerome Hearn.

A hearing Tuesday in Lauderdale County Circuit Court set bond for Ricky Thomas, one of two people charged with capital murder in Hearn's death.

Until Tuesday, Thomas had been held with no bond since his arrest in November.

The grieving family of Hearn said it believes Thomas, and co-defendant Frederick Moore, should both remain jailed.

Members say they hope to gain additional information and get to the bottom of the case.

"Right now, we are comfortable with what's going on with the police department, but right now we feel like there is something else out there," said Hearn's aunt, Cassandra Anderson. "We feel that there is a missing link that's pending in this case. Right now we are just asking, if there is any additional information out there, maybe someone saw something, or heard something before it happened, after it happened. We just need to know because we are concerned citizens."

The March grand jury sent the case back to the Meridian Police Department for further investigation after hearing evidence. The case is to be presented to another grand jury in August.

Information about the case may be reported to Meridian police investigations at 601-485-1859.

Cases involving murder take time. ESP. when the killer took his time to plan the event out. EVERYONE INCLUDING ANONYMOUS (11:03AM) watch your mouth. *SORRY* isn't what they are. These officers go through a boot camp training known as The Police Academy where they spend day in and day out learning about these things. They are not trained by others from Meridian. They are all well-rounded guys who deserve the upmost respect. TO the Meridian Police Department my hat goes off to you guys and my prayers are with you each and every day! I feel so horrible for the Hearn family. Jerome was such a wonderful, friendly man. HE WAS AWESOME! and had the most beautiful smile EVER! guys please if you know ANY information please contact MPD. Crimes like these are usually only solved because of help from citizens! It isn't being a snitch. It is helping bring someone to justice for the crime they did!

first off to the person who is sayin it is a detectives duty to solve this crime...i am not going to argue with are exactly right...but i bet you didnt know that detectives actually spend less than 10% of their time solving crimes. it isn't just up to them. these types of cases are usually only solved because someone speaks up. or someone slips up. whoever DH is you guys downtown need to go search for him... according to that post on here he knows what is going on!!! i feel so horrible for the Hearn family. Jerome may have sinned in ways. but who doesnt? and who are we to judge him. in my eyes he was a great man with repsect for every persons life he ever came in contact with. i am praying for the family day and night that justice will be served. RIP G! We all love and miss you enormous amounts!!!!

i'mso in agreement i want someone to go to jail b/c its not fair to kill and stay free. but in the same token its not fair to have a past but get punished for what has happened in the future. the only thing i dislike about this is that more than who they have has been named but they insist on sticking with what they have b/c its more convienent but in all honesty if the family felt the right ppl were locked up then they wouldnt spend out money cuz they know that the lord will prove these men to be guilty but apparently they have heard the other names also and are just as cofused as me. I pray for Rick and Fred and if you two are innocent I pray that you all are set free and make it through b/c Rick before you went to jail in 04 the only thing you did was sale a little dope but kill someone ____ ion remember you getting into it with ppl that did something to you personally. Just hold your head up man b/c someone cant sleep w/ this on their mind

People in Meridian talk, everyone has heard different stories, and one of the stories is that they have the wrong people locked. meridian Police dept knows who did ths crime. but they are punishing the wrong boys.

YEa and for once tell the truth because its tooooooooo many fingers pointing in a whole nother direction for this to not be looked into. i feel like if someone else's name has come up y not lock them all up until this issue is resolved but they want to penalize who's name came up 1st this is going to end up being a disaster because the police are ignoring what they hear because of who they hear but eventually the innocent will be set free without the guilty locked up then how would the family. i feel that when you devote yourself to your occupation (detectvie) or whatever no matter who's name comes up whether it be your son or daughter momma or daddy its your duty to do the right thing. but if this boy DH gets away with this as he does everything else he's never going to stop its going to become a comfort zone.
