The sunny weather Saturday set the tone for the annual Spring Festival at Poplar Springs Drive United Methodist Church in Meridian.
During the Food Festival over 700 pounds of shrimp was cooked up for those with the biggest appetites. Those who attended could also dig in on some corn, mushrooms, and potatoes. The plates of delicious food sold for seven dollars a piece. All of the money raised at today's festival will go towards local missions.
"It's local missions. This year we are giving to South Harbor Shelter, Life's Missions, Center for Pregnancy Choices, and First John 3:17 Missions," says Ken Labruyere, a church member.
Church members say this is one way they like to contribute to their community.
