Young students and their parents prepared for the big step into kindergarten as they toured Poplar Springs Elementary Tuesday.
The annual partnership agreement between Meridian Public School District and Head Start allows for the students to see and prepare for what lies ahead of them in a few short months.
"This is a day that we plan so that the students that are at Head Start, that will be coming to Poplar Springs, get to come see what being at school is all about, meet the teachers, be in the classroom and see what their new environment will be like for next year," said Lavonda Germany, principal of Poplar Springs Elementary.
"We transition our Head Start children to prepare them for kindergarten and for public school," said Gretchen Luvene, coordinator of the Parent Resource Center.
The students were sent home with registration forms and requests for other registration information.
Public schools urge parents to complete those documents and submit them as soon as possible.
