Wandering Wheels Cruises Meridian

A group that has been riding from coast to coast on their bikes for more than forty years was in Meridian Wednesday.

The Wandering Wheels group made a stop at Meridian's St. Paul Episcopal Church, as part of its 67th cross country ride.

The ride originally began as a way for young people to strengthen their understanding of God, but since 1966, the riders have gotten a bit older.

"The good things are a day like today. The ride flies by and we have a blast," said Ben McCoige. "You can go 30 miles in what yesterday seemed like 2 hours. The roads coming in here are wonderful, because they are roller hills, lots of woods and green and that's been a great change for us. "

The group is making its way from southern California to Brunswick, Ga.
