Pearl – Several counties are reporting damages to the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency from storms which began Saturday, May 1 and continue to move through our state.
Additionally three deaths are attributed to these storms. Benton County Emergency Management is reporting two fatalities and one more fatality was reported by Lafayette County Emergency Management.
The following counties are reporting damages to the State Emergency Operations Center in Pearl:
MEMA personnel have been deployed to assist with the response in Benton County. Four pallets of tarps are en route from the MEMA warehouse in Pearl to Benton County and one pallet is headed to Lafayette County.
The National Weather Service forecast calls for continued strong and severe storms today into Monday with a threat of heavy rain and flooding in many parts of the state. Residents should be aware of the weather threat in their area and have a NOAA weather radio or stay tuned to local media for additional weather warnings as they are issued.
Anybody with damage is asked to contact their local emergency management office to report
