The search continued Monday for a suspect in a fatal shooting in Newton County Apr. 30. The shooting happened just before 6 p.m. outside a mobile home on Corinth Road.
44-year-old William Earl Robinson, also known as Akil Hasheem Saeed, is accused of shooting the victim, his sister-in-law, Katrina Kennedy, 38, five times with a small caliber gun. Robinson is considered armed and dangerous.
He's described as a black male, 6' 1", and 175 pounds.
Officials say the shooting occurred in front of several relatives, including Kennedy's child, and resulted from an argument about the cutting of timber on family property.
Kennedy was pronounced dead Friday at the hospital in Newton.
Authorities searched for the suspect first in a wooded area near the site of the shooting. Newton County Sheriff Jackie Knight says search specialists from the Mississippi Highway Patrol were brought in to canvass the area.
Over the weekend, investigators also searched in Neshoba County but Robinson was not found.
At this time, there's no reward for his capture, but Knight said it's possible one could be offered in the future. Officials advise that no one should approach Robinson, but instead contact their local law enforcement immediately. The Newton County Sheriff's Department's number is 601-635-2101.
