County Dumpsters Removed by End of Week

For any Lauderdale County household that has not received one of the 95-gallon blue garbage carts from Arrow Disposal, county engineer Neal Carson says use any containers you already have until one is brought to you. He said he believes less than 1-percent may have been missed.

Carson said his casual check of the northwestern part of the county indicated about 80 percent participation Monday. He also had an update on the status of the dumpsters.

"We have begun to remove green boxes from the northwest area," said Carson. "Then we'll work the central part of the, north central part of the county, and then the northeast, and so forth, around until we get them all up."

Carson said he hopes to be able to remove all of the dumpster boxes from county sites by the end of this week.

Guy South of I-20...You hit the nail on the head there. I'm so glad I don't have to go the dump anymore. I just smile a little on the inside everytime I walk past my big blue can.

I agree with you Guy... but I did see a bag of garbage on the side of the road... I just wonder where they were taking it. We already have our blue cans & there's nowhere around to take garbage now. Otherwise the countryside was pristine. We were riding the motorcycle & it was actually a pleasure to see nature instead of garbage alongside of the roadway. David, the pickup has NOT failed. They said give them time. I don't think 2 days is sufficient TIME. Sounds like you were just looking for something to complain about...GRIEF!

They might better hold of on removing the dumpsters since the new garbage pickup has already failed. They were to pick up our garbage today and missed about 50 or more houses just in our area. After calling them they suggested we leave our cans out and "maybe" they can get them picked up tomorrow.

My only thought on this is..... How in the WORLD does a single household create more garbage than those cans will hold in only a week??? We have 4 people and have never filled one unless there was extra stuff like Christmas or a lot of cardboard boxes. On another note, can we also get rid of the disease ridden feral cats that have infested the dumpster sites due to idiots feeding them and promoting their population???

Thank you! And please take the garbage that surrounds the ones I pass every single day with you. Thank God that these eyesores will be gone.
