A local church made a donation Tuesday to help out the victims of the Haiti earthquake earlier this year.
El Bethel Baptist Church in Meridian made the donation of $733.50 to the Red Cross Key Chapter.
The money will be used by the Rd Cross in its relief efforts for the victims of the devastating quake.
"For the entire month of April, we collected offerings every Sunday, which were specifically designated for Haiti," said church member Brenda McCormick. "Even though we're in another country, missions is about helping abroad and at home, and we just saw such a great need for Haiti as we watched the images on TV, which were so heart-wrenching."
The deacon board and health and hospitality committee of the church headed up the giving campaign. Since the earthquake hit, the red cross has raised more than 400-million dollars for Haiti relief and recovery efforts.
