MHS Cheerleaders Receive Rings

Meridian High School celebrated another state championship moment Monday.

Championship rings were presented to the twenty members of the MHS cheerleading squad at a ceremony in the auditorium.

Officials also showed a DVD of the team's winning performance, and a collection of memories from this year.

"Each and every one of us worked so hard. And you know, that could've never happened if we weren't together as a team and helping each other out all the time," said co-captain, Joya Johnson. "It just took a lot of dedication and hard work. And it was hard, but in the end it all paid off."

MHS brought home the championship Dec. 19, 2009, but school officials said the team set the goal of winning it at its first practice in May of 2009.

Well, the football team gets rings, new shoe, under armor, pads, and uniforms every year. They have 1 coach for every 7 players. They receive and spend more money than any group on campus. So, if you want to talk about money... they football team has it.
