Anderson Hospital Wednesday awarded scholarships to nursing students at Meridian Community College.
Six second-year students received full scholarships: Brandi Covington, Courtney Smith, Rebecca Landrum, Alana Douglas, Christopher Wilson, and Shelby Armond.
All were selected based on academics, faculty recommendation and an essay they wrote on why they chose nursing as a career.
"It has always been the mission of Anderson to provide quality medical care for the community, for the region around Meridian," said Anderson board member Jan Farrington. "And one of the most important components of that is to provide quality nursing care. And that has always been important to Anderson. One of the ways that we can insure this for the future is to insure that they are given quality education."
Anderson has been assisting MCC nursing students in this way for 22 years.
