Kemper Official Applauds MPC Decision

Kemper County officials say they're pleased with Mississippi Power's plan to move forward with a lignite coal power plant there.

Brian Henson, the director of the Kemper Economic Development Authority, said Friday that the plant will provide significant increases in revenue, lower taxes, better funding for schools, and jobs for the county.

The company announced Thursday it would build the plant after the state public service commission backed off some restrictions it had previously given them.

This means more jobs and money for a very selective few and much higher power bills for everyone - including the unemployed.
