The Lauderdale County board of supervisors Tuesday accepted the resignation of fire coordinator, Clarence Butler.
After 49 years of working with fire service in Meridian and Lauderdale County, Butler is retiring.
"Probably the best, the years of experience with Lauderdale County has been the most rewarding because of the number of people we've been able to help," said Butler. "The amount of people we've been able to help with the amount of insurance coverage, people can buy because we have better fire protection today. I'm just well pleased with my experience with Lauderdale County."
Butler's retirement will take effect June 30.
