A shooting last night in the Lauderdale community claimed the life of a local man. He was identified by authorities as 45-year-old David Lancaster.
The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department is still trying to gather all the pieces of the story.
Officials say 63-year-old Geraldine Walton called a friend immediately after firing the gun around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. The friend then called the sheriff's department. Walton is charged with murder.
When sheriff's deputies arrived, they found the victim dead at the residence.
"It is my understanding that the victim, David Lancaster, had lived for the better part of ten years at the house with her or in a trailer behind it," said Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun. "And that she had given him a place to live. That's what I understand of it. "
Calhoun says the investigation will continue. He did not release any possible motive.
Investigators say want to talk to friends and family of both the suspect and victim to try and gather some answers.
