MeridianTeaParty.com's message is now prominently displayed along Interstate 20/59 in Meridian.

The group has raised enough money to put up a billboard sign at the Bonita Lakes Mall exit.

The sign reads, "Help Take Our Country Back, One Politician at a Time", and lists the group's web address.

It has only been up a week, but group member Paul Tarver says reaction has been strong in terms of momentum and fundraising.

"We aren't going to get any feedback as for if we changed someone in Atlanta's mind about if they are going to vote or not," said Tarver. "But if we made them think about it between here and Birmingham, then we have accomplished what we needed to accomplish. "

In order to keep the sign up until November, the group still needs to raise more money.

A barbecue fundraiser called Patriots in the Plaza will be held July 2 at Dumont Plaza. Tickets will go on sale next week.

What does the tea party stand for? What politicians do they need to save the country from? Even heard of divide and conqure? Let's see what happens in November.

I guess the republicans around here are in trouble. They are the only ones that can be replaced, since they are the ones representing us. Do we really believe the Tea Party is that non-partisan?.... I didn't think so.
