During Tuesday's Meridian City Council meeting it was announced that Paul Nuckolls has donated four parcels of land to go towards the city's Freedom Park project, that will honor the men and women who took part in the civil rights movement.
The park will be located at 25th Avenue and 5th Street in the historic African American business district.
"I'm so glad that we will have a good starting point in that part of town," said Barry. "And I'm so proud that we will be able to start with Freedom Park and it will bring a lot of life to that area. "
Barry says this is a good start, but there is still more property that the city needs to acquire.
