Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band are performing a free concert in Gulf Shores, Ala., next month to demonstrate support for residents and businesses stricken by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill.

The CMT cable network said this week it will air a portion of the July 1 concert live from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Central.

The concert on the beach is being billed as "CMT Presents Jimmy Buffett & Friends Live From the Gulf Coast."

Buffett will be joined by Kenny Chesney, Zac Brown, Allen Toussaint, Jesse Winchester and other guests.

The performance also will be simulcast on Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio, and streamed on the CMT website.

They always claim to be raising money for Mississippi but you never see the check. The crawfish festival (remember that) said they were going to raise money for Lauderdale County Emergency workers. They still haven't cut a check for that. If Buffet wanted to raise money for the coast, he should reach in his check book.

BUFFETT IS AN ACCOMPLISHED PERFORMER, AND SOME DONT LIKE HIM. SORRY YOURE MISSING OUT! I LOVE HIS MUSIC, HIS CONCERTS ARE DEFINITELY AN EVENT! GO AND STILL ENJOY, BUT RENTING A CONDO OR HOUSE NEARBY AND SIT ON THE BALCONY AND LISTEN, AND HAVE YOUR OWN LITTLE PARTY. GULF COAST, ALL OF IT, NEEDS OUR SUPPORT.

Come on Who Cares. How about supporting the coast a little even if you don't like buffett music. I dont care for all his work but I gotta give him props for doing something for the coast.

The only thing that makes this concert worth attending are the "friends" Jimmy Buffett will be with. Without some liquid refreshment it is very hard to really enjoy his music for more than 10 minutes tops.
