Actress and Meridian native, Sela Ward, is the latest star to be honored on the Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center Walk of Fame.
Ward attended the unveiling Wednesday outside the MSU Riley Center in Meridian.
Ward was instrumental in pushing forward the renovation of the Grand Opera House and Marks Rothenberg Building, which became the Riley Center.
Ward said she believes the arts are an important element to any community.
"It's our identity in terms of art and culture in Mississippi and in our community alone," said Ward. "We need to look at the past and learn to inspire our young artists moving
forward, and it's extremely important."
Ward has won two Emmys for her acting in the TV series, "Sisters" and "Once and Again", plus a Golden Globe for "Once and Again".
