Birthdays are often a special time in most people's lives and typically, are fun to celebrate. That's especially true if it's your 100th birthday party like one local woman celebrated Sunday.
Lois Shannon, from Bethany Baptist Church, celebrated her 100th birthday Sunday afternoon. Her closest friends and family helped her to enjoy this major milestone from 3 to 5p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church.
Church members often refer to her as 'Aunt Lois'. According to church members, 'Aunt Lois' is the oldest living member of Bethany.
She says she has lived this long for a reason.
"It makes me feel good because I've got a lot of friends. The Lord gave me the years. For some reason I'm here," exclaims 'Aunt Lois'.
Of course, there was plenty of cake and ice cream for the birthday girl.
Her actual birthday is Thurdsay, July 22nd.
