The Mississippi Department of Corrections says Charles Ray Warren was taken back into custody without incident Friday evening in Lombard, Ill.
Warren will face felony escape charges when he's returned to Mississippi.
He was serving a 5-year sentence for his conviction in Hinds County for vehicle theft and malicious mischief. He escaped from a Simpson County work center.
MDOC investigators worked with the Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force in Oxford, Miss., to find where Warren had gone after escaping. He was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service.
