The Mississippi Department of Transportation will begin several road projects in east Mississippi next week that could tie up traffic.
Among them is a chip seal operation on Highway 496 in south Lauderdale County, from Highway 19, south of Meridian, to the Alabama state line.
Officials say flagmen will be there, directing traffic. They also ask that you slow down as you approach the work zone, and take an alternate route if possible.
Three other roads in east Mississippi will also be getting seal-chip work, starting Monday:
In Newton County, Highway 489, from Lake to Stratton
In Lauderdale County, Highway 895, from Highway 11 to the end of state maintenance.
In Neshoba County, Highway 491, from Highway 16 to Highway 21.
