Meridian, Miss. Meridian attorney Rod Amos who ran in the Democrat Primary for mayor was arrested early Sunday by Meridian police.
Department spokesman Capt. Dean Harper confirmed Amos was arrested just after 3 a.m. and faces several charges, all misdemeanors.
Amos was charged with DUI refusal, possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, resisting arrest, and obstructing traffic.
Newscenter 11 contacted Amos about the charges. He said, " It's unfortunate that it happened and a poor decision on my part. I'm dealing with the situation and going forward the best way that I can."
The former candidate for mayor of Meridian, who lost May 7 to eventual mayor-elect Percy Bland, was released Sunday after posting bond.
