Barry Looks to Teens for Crime Prevention

Meridian Mayor Cheri Barry is asking local teens to join the city in its fight against crime.

The Mayor's Youth Leadership Council is hosting the summit at city hall later this month. Barry says the event is an opportunity for leaders to hear from youth since they are the future of the community. She says she wants to hear what they have to say about moving the community forward.

"We can stand so strong as one community," Barry says. "And if our youth come on board and help us, we can grow this community in the right direction. And so, we need our youth, we need our voices, we need to be one voice of Meridian. And I plan to see all of the above at this youth summit."

The teen crime summit is planned for Thursday, January 31st at 6 p.m. at Meridian City Hall.
