Beasley Denson Releases Statement on Tribal Elections

Upon review of the complaints by Vickie Rangel and Mack Jimmie that election rules were not followed during the June 14th Election, Tribal Council has overturned the results.
The Tribal Election Commission will set a date for a new election to be held within sixty days.

It was Phyllis Anderson and Kevin Edwards who forced the tie-breaking vote that I cast on this issue. Vickie Rangel and Mack Jimmie requested that the Tribal Council members who were candidates for Chief in the June 14th election not vote on the matter because they were directly involved. Phyllis and Kevin refused. If they had, the vote would have been 8-6 in favor of overturning the election. The minutes of the July 8th Tribal Council meeting show this.

I will continue to serve as Miko during this time and all Tribal government and business operations will continue as usual. My top priority will continue to be putting Chahta First and the protection of our sovereignty. Both of these things are still under attack and we will have to fight together to protect them.

Over the last week, we have gotten a glimpse of what life might be like with Phyliss Anderson and the Governor's Jackson consultants and lawyers running our Tribe. It was not a pretty sight. Chahta First was never a popular concept off the Reservation and when they thought they had defeated us, all of Jackson was celebrating.

I will not let Chahta First die. I will not let our sovereignty be chipped away to satisfy outside politicians and the coast casinos. My opponent has sold her soul and her principles to those people to put herself and her family in power. We saw that her message of unity was just a joke. Phyllis Anderson and her backers in Jackson must be stopped. They came out of hiding the day after the election and we have seen their faces. We are going to remove their influence from our democratic process and get them off our Reservation and out of our politics for good.

Thank you for everything you have done up until now. I was hopeful we would have been back to the business of making progress for our Tribe by now but, unfortunately, we still have to fight. I hope you will continue to stand with me. The soul of our Tribe, our right to manage our own affairs and our way of life depend on the outcome. Yakoki!

I just hope a person that treats all races gets to be chief. We use to go often enough and donate enough money that we always had free rooms and meals. We quit when the chief fired people just because of race. He could have replaced non Indians with only Indians as jobs came open an I would have had no problem with that. You can't right a wrong with another wrong.

see there you are again. blaming denson and not yourself. if you really want a leader then stop taking money or gifts from those running for chief or council. ITS YOU!!! that are putting these people in office. YOU are part of the blame. dont tell me you that you did not take anything from denson, anderson or from your council man. what they did isnt right. give money or gifts of any kind to buy votes. You are the embrassment along with those in position of my tribe. once anderson starts her 100 days. i dare one or all of you go and ask her or the council to do one thing. cut their salary. council should be around 40,000 and chief around 60,000. i tell you now that they would not go for it. so the person to blame is yourself for putting greedy people in and expecting a free handout. remember in the bible it says that those who love money, will never had enought and the consequence of having a unwise leader or a unwise council. ask a christian ask yourself is this what your new administration going to be. i think so cause like i said before the greed and corruption will always be there.. and i agree with the person that instead of the casino i really pray that they check the tribal office as well as the council and every department.

GREED!!! That's what he is all about. BULLYING the Chatta people to get his own way. THREATNING their jobs and very lively hood. Instead of MIKO he should be called "ONE WHO ______ ON HIMSELF". The _______ MIKO should hand over the leadership of the Chatta people to one who cares about "Chatta'S First" and not his own pockets. I pray Chatta people read this msg and hold their herritage high by electing a CHEIF they may be proud of! Not a MIKO who will go to their own casino's and throw temper-tantrums and get _____ ______ to ________ ___ ______ in public (and embarass his people in doing so). Is this, "ONE WHO ______ __ _______" the image the PROUD CHATTA TRIBE want for the world to see, the one they want to represent their tribe, and the one they want their children to mentor?

It is all a big joke, Denson is not the answer for the tribe. He is an embarrasment to the Choctaw people. You need better leadership and Anderson is far better than he is. I doubt she will be seen drunk on her can out in public either. Give it up denson and way to go on the smear campaign you got going, your a true leader!

Denson is a joke and a puppet dangling from the string of his Atlanta backers. He's never around because his backers don't want him to be. Every month they are the first to have their hands out to collect money from the casino. The casino is paying their companies for services that they aren't providing. Denson and his family are just getting rich and traveling while others are trying to just get by. "Chata First" is a joke coming out of his mouth. I don't believe there is a single person out there that actually cares about the tribe and its people. Those that ran for office are greedy and just want the power and money. If someone really cared they would actually cut the chief's and tribal council's salary. What those positions pay is absurd.

chata first, unity. bull cookies. most of you dont know here bogue homa is at till now. and all of you didnt care too much for it. and still dont. even with new chief come in or the old one stays the only things that stays is the greed and corruption. you cant blame miko the blame goes with the council you elected as well. and to yourself. im ______ and ashamed of my own people. as for putting family in higher position that always going to happen. look at phillip administration. how many of his family were given a higher post and much higher pay. do you think mrs. anderson wont do the same. i tell you what chief martin build in 30 years he undid himself in his last days in office. you say denson destroyed that in 4. and what if anderson utterly destroys it. whose to blame. i say vote to have the chief and council pay in half and lets see who really cares for the tribe. and for you able body choctaws. step up and take re·spon·si·bil·i·ty and stop asking for handouts from the tribe.

The Choctaw Tribal Council was briefed on an FBI investigation under way at Pearl River Resort in a meeting Tuesday morning closed to the press. A Neshoba Democrat reporter was asked to leave a regular meeting so the council could hear the report, although the council had declined to go into executive session. The Democrat reporter was singled out and asked to leave the meeting, although others remained. Choctaw Attorney General Donald L. Kilgore told the council they needed to discuss "why the FBI is here." Miko Beasley Denson asked that the matter be discussed in executive session. Tribal Council member Ken Edwards objected, saying he wanted the entire Tribe to know what's going on. The council voted 12-4 to remain in open session, although the Democrat reporter was told to leave. The meeting adjourned a couple of minutes later. Ty Breedlove, a spokesman for the FBI in Jackson, would not confirm deny the investigation. "We can not comment on that matter at this time," he said. One Tribal Council member mentioned computer hard drives being taken before the Democrat reporter was dismissed. Pearl River Tribal Council member Cyrus Ben asked the Democrat reporter to leave the meeting. At the meeting Kevin Edwards was elected Vice Chief and Ben was elected Secretary Treasurer. There was shouting and name-calling at the meeting.

Miko says he's "chata first" when it should be "Miko first!" that is what he really means. Miko talks of Phyliss putting her family in higher positions when he has a son-in-law who is not "CHATA". Lets ask him what position does his son (prince Micheal) and daughter work? When electing our Miko when he ran one of his promise was he would be available to everyone and hear people's issues. Many have tried to reach him but we were always told "Out of state". Where does it say in our past traditions that we call our chief's wife "first lady"?
