The East Mississippi Drug Task Force contacted the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department Tuesday with some information they obtained through a separate investigation.
That info quickly led to warrants being issued, and arrests being made by Sheriff's deputies.
"Last night two juveniles were taken into custody and search warrants were issued and served at several locations inside the city of Meridian," explains Sheriff Billy Sollie, "during that search four long guns that had been stolen in some residential burglaries were recovered."
All of the stolen property came from residences in Russell, well outside the city limits.
The two juveniles have been transported to the Rankin County Juvenile Center and are being held there now, but those two arrests may not be the last.
"Our Criminal Investigation Division is going to continue looking into the evidence they gathered last night," says Sollie, "we do believe there are other juveniles involved in a ring of burglaries in the Russell area."
