Scott County Sheriff Mike Lee says the victim, Kizzy Richardson-Walker, was actually murdered in Desoto, Texas, and her body brought to east Mississippi, where it was set on fire.

Her estranged husband, Gregory Walker, is in custody in Texas.

Lee said one of the victim's fingertips survived the burning, and she was identified through an old arrest record.

Texas officials had received a missing person's report on the woman, obtained a search warrant for her husband's apartment, and said they found evidence linking him to the crime.

Lee said Gregory Walker had also purchased some items locally to help in disposing of the body.
