A resident and business owner in Marion is complaining about trash littering Dale Drive/Highway 45 that he says gives people the wrong impression about Lauderdale County.
Gayland Frazier says he has tried to get current and past elected officials to do something about the eyesore created by the trash and debris.
Frazier says Waste Pro trucks taking over-loaded commercial garbage containers to the landfill are the cause of the problem.
"So they try to tarp these containers to get it to the landfill. Now when they're over-filled the tarp does not cover the whole container. The trash comes out," Frazier said. "And it's not only (Highway) 45. It's B Street. Come across North Hills from Broadmoor."
Frazier says law enforcement should follow the trucks to verify his claims.
Waste Pro division manager, Rodney Street, says his company has had no other complaints about the operation of its trucks, and it has received no tickets for littering.
Street said Waste Pro follows the guidelines issued by the Mississippi Department of Transportation and Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality.
